Winter Sports in St-Cergue

aint-Cergue and the nearby peak of La Dôle, at the entrance to the Col de la Givrine in the Jura, provides wonderful views over Lake Geneva towards Mont Blanc. Initially a spa, a narrow-gauge railway runs from Nyon to the village and on as far as La Cure on the French border. There are 80 km of cross-country tracks that cross over into France, 20 km of undemanding downhill slopes with night-time skiing, winter hiking trails and snow-shoe walks. It is also an important centre for rearing dogs for dogs-sledging, which can also be tried out in the village. Unfortunately the main slopes are quite a walk away from the village and at the time of writing I am not aware of any ski bus serving this resort.

Getting There

By Public Transport

The best destination to access the downhill slopes by public transport in this ski area is Les Pralies. Next stop after St-Cergue, then 20 minutes walk (1.4km) to chairlift. Walk back towards St-Cergue and turn right onto Ch. de la Beurière then right onto Route du Télésiège.

• From Basel the least travel time is 3 hrs 32 mins with as few as 1 changes going via Nyon.
