F
amous for one of the people who learned to ski here, Didier Cuche, who was born in the neighbouring municipality of Le Pâquier. This low-lying, remote ski area on the northern slope of the Chasseral is the largest downhill ski area in the Jura mountains. Despite its altitude it has a good snow record. Not a resort you would plan for your winter holidays, but the resort has free parking and, by car, is only 20 minutes from Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, and 30 minutes from Bienne. There is a direct bus service from Neuchâtel that takes about 45 minutes to get to the ski area.
There is no resort as such, but there is a snack bar, restaurant, Picnic room and, just across the road a small guesthouse, Bonne Auberge Les Bugnenets, which has a very highly regarded restaurant ((+41 32 853 24 12). Ski school can be arranged by contacting the Neuchâtel-Les Bugnnents ski school at info@essnb.ch (+41 78 666 20 00 or + 41 32 853 14 75)
