T
his is probably the best place in the world to go tobogganing. Although the resort has a modest number of downhill slopes, cross-country ski tracks, winter walks, curling pitches and an ice-rink, it is the famous toboggan run from Preda that makes this resort popular. Bergün is at the head of the Albula valley and the pass beyond to the Engadine is closed in winter, both making the village a delightful car-free, family-friendly resort but also providing the outstanding (and very popular) 5km toboggan run down the pass. You reach the top of the run by taking the train along the UNESCO World Heritage route to the next station at Albula on one of the most spectacular railway sections in the world. The route is floodlit in the evening and there is another steeper tobogganing run (sometimes referred to as the Lauberhorn of toboggan runs) from Darlux to Bergün.
Best of the Slopes
The longest run is the 10k run off Piz Darlux.
