S

t Stephan is a small community which sadly lost a rickety two seat chirlift from the village up to Lengebrand a few years ago. The sunny valley runs down to St Stephan tend to get chewed up earlier in the season and led to the decision not to replace the lift. However a ski bus now runs from Matten via St Stephan to the bottom of the Lengebrand-Parwengesattel chairlift, giving access to the largest ski area in the Gstaad Mountain Rides circuit.

Best of the Slopes

The runs off Parwengesattel are great for boarders. The run to Lengebrand is a lovely scenic run and there's usually good off-piste if there has been recent fresh snow on the other side of the Parwengesattel towards Chaltebrunne.

Getting There

By Public Transport

The best destination to access the downhill slopes by public transport in this ski area is Zweisimmen. Station adjacent to Rinderberg Gondola at Zweisimmen (left out of station). Note that the lift pass is good for all lifts in Gstaad Mountain Rides and on all local buses and the railway as far as Rossinière. Stations at Saanenmöser, Schönried, Saanen, Rougement and Château-d'Oex are all a few minutes walk from valley stations. The bottom station in St Stephan is served by a train from Zweisimmen (destination Lenk) which takes 9 minutes, the price of which is also covered by the lift pass.
