his small, sunny, south-facing resort half an hour from Sion with its car-free centre was established in 1965 and provides very pleasant cruising for intermediates - it doesn't get too busy so it is perfect for weekend skiing, although sadly not yet part of the Snow'n'Rail scheme. There are plans to link the resort to nearby Crans-Montana, but no clear timeline has yet been developed. It has, however, recently had a new thermal spa built. Limited number of runs for beginners.

Best of the Slopes

The 5km black run from pas de maimbre represents the only really challenging run in the resort, although it is easy to find some decent off-piste and there are lots of nice, cruisy reds to choose from.

Where to Eat and Party

The restaurant at Les Rousses often does a "do it yourself" barbecue at lunchtime which is fun, and means you can get your steak cooked just the way you want it. The Rendezvous is probably the best place to start an evening.
